Global SSD Solution formulates, manufactures and distributes conservation-grade solvents, cleaning agents, resins, deacidification systems and adhesives — trusted by restorers, archives and studios to protect what matters.
Based in Sandton, Global SSD Solution manufactures and distributes a complete range of specialist chemicals for the conservation of paintings, documents and paper. Our formulations are built around a single principle: clean, consolidate and stabilise with materials that remain safe, controlled and reversible.
From volatile solvents that lift aged varnish without touching the paint beneath, to nanoparticle buffers that halt acid embrittlement in historic paper, every product is designed for the demands of professional restorers, museums, archives and studios.
Two integrated capabilities — manufacturing and distribution — keep conservation-grade chemistry consistent, documented and dependable.
Precise formulation and blending of solvents, resins, buffers and pastes under controlled conditions for batch-to-batch consistency.
Correctly labelled, safely packaged chemicals delivered to studios, archives and institutions with reliable, traceable supply.
Purity testing, documentation and reversible, conservation-safe systems that respect fragile originals at every stage.
A curated portfolio spanning painting conservation and document & paper restoration — each product selected for performance, safety and reversibility.
Cleaning, varnish removal and structural stabilisation systems formulated to work on the surface — never against the artwork beneath.
Acetone, isopropanol, ethanol, xylene and mineral spirits dissolve aged, discoloured natural or synthetic resin varnishes without attacking the underlying paint.
Neutral soaps, surfactants and pH-controlled buffers (such as MES or Tris) lift surface dirt and soot from unvarnished or sensitive oil / acrylic layers.
Synthetic and aldehyde resins like Laropal A81 or Paraloid B-72 are used for reversible retouching and structural stabilisation of frail paint or canvas layers.
Neutralising, brightening and mending systems that reverse decay and reinforce fragile paper, archives and manuscripts.
Alkaline buffers, magnesium oxide (MgO) and calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)₂) nanoparticles neutralise acid hydrolysis and stop paper embrittlement.
Chloramine-T solutions or mild chlorine-based bleaches reduce foxing, yellowing and dark stains, followed by a neutralising vinegar (acetic acid) bath.
Wheat starch paste, nori rice paste and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) are used with Japanese tissue for mending tears and paper losses safely.
